한양대학교 ERICA Residential College 센터 글로벌 하우스에서는 2022년 4월 5일(화) 오전 11시부터 창의인재원 인재관 기숙사 뒤뜰에서 식목일을 기념하는 식목행사를 진행하였다. 이는 글로벌 하우스의 외국인 학생들과 리더십 하우스 한국인 학생들이 함께 참여한 행사로 학생들이 직접 나무를 심으며 식목일의 의미를 되새기고 탄소중립 실현에 동참을 할 수 있는 뜻깊은 시간이었다. 두 명씩 짝을 이루어서 한 학생은 묘목을 세워 고정하고 또 다른 한 학생은 삽을 이용하여 흙을 덮어준 뒤 쓰러지지 않도록 땅을 다졌다.
프랑스 국적의 외국인 유학생은 프랑스에는 식목일이 국경일로 따로 지정되어 있지 않다며 국가에서 나무 심는 날을 정해두었다는 것에 신기한 반응을 보였다. 이외 다른 외국인 학생들은 다른 곳에선 쉽게 할 수 없는 경험을 했다며 한양대학교의 유학생으로서 식목행사에 참여할 수 있어 기쁘다는 소감을 전했다. 위 행사에 참여한 학생들은 모두 창의인재원 기숙사에 거주하는 학생으로 본인들이 거주하고 있는 기숙사의 쾌적한 생활환경을 조성할 수 있도록 함께 나무를 심었다. 외국인 유학생과 한국인 학생들이 한마음으로 참여했던 유의미한 식목행사였다.
Hanyang University ERICA Residential College Center Global House held a tree planting event to celebrate Arbor Day in the backyard of the ERICA Residence Hall Ⅱ from 11 a.m. on April 5, 2022 (Tue).
The event was attended by international students from the Global House and Korean students from the Leadership House. It was a meaningful time for students to plant trees themselves, reflect on the meaning of Arbor Day, and contribute to achieving carbon neutrality. In pairs, one student set up a seedling and fixed it, and the other student used a shovel to cover the soil and strengthen the ground to prevent it from collapsing.
A foreign student from France said, "Arbor Day is not designated as a national holiday in France," adding, "It is interesting that Korea has set a tree planting day." Other foreign students said they had an experience that they could not easily do anywhere else, and expressed their joy at participating in the tree planting event as an international students at Hanyang University. All of the students who participated in the above event were students living in the dormitory of ERICA Residence Hall, and trees were planted to create a pleasant living environment in the dormitory where they lived. It was a meaningful arbor event in which foreign students and Korean students participated as one.
