떡 만들기 체험은 안산시 상록구에 위치한 ‘다농마트 청년몰’에 방문하여 10월 6일(목) 오전 10시와 오후 2시 총 두 차례에 나뉘어 진행하였다.
학생들은 3인 1조로 짝이 지어져 강사님의 설명에 따라 다양한 백설기를 만들었다. 떡 만들기의 기본 재료인 멥쌀가루를 손으로 직접 만져보며 떡을 만드는 전통 방식인 물주기와 이를 체에 거르는 작업을 진행하였다. 이어서 모양 틀에 멥쌀가루와 떡의 맛을 더하는 재료를 넣고 토핑을 올려 장식했다. 떡이 쪄지는 동안 한국의 전통 음료인 식혜를 시음하고 한국 전통 스티커와 한글 스티커를 이용하여 포장 상자를 꾸미는 시간을 가졌다. 이후 완성된 떡을 포장하며 떡 만들기 체험에 대한 소감을 나누는 것을 끝으로 활동을 마무리하였다.
The Global House members have visited ‘Danong Store’ to participate in the Rice Cake Making Class. The activity was divided into 2 sessions: October 6th at 10 AM and 2 PM.
The students were paired in groups of three to make a rice cake called ‘Baekseolgi’ according to the instructor's explanation. The students watered and sifted the ground non-glutinous rice powder which is the basic ingredient of rice cake making. They learned the traditional way of making rice cake from the scratch. Next, students put the sifted powder into the mold and add the ingredients for the additional taste. While the rice cakes were being steamed, students tried ‘Sikhye’, a traditional Korean drink, and had time to decorate the packaging box using traditional Korean stickers. Afterwards, the activity was completed by wrapping the rice cake and sharing their thoughts on the experience.
