한양대학교 ERICA Residential College 센터 글로벌 하우스에서는 떡 만들기 활동을 2023년 3월 30일(목) 오전 10시와 오후 2시에 안산시 상록구에 위치한 ‘다농마트 청년몰’에 서 두 차례 진행하였다.
학생들은 3인 1조로 짝을 지어 강사님의 설명에 따라 퓨전 백설기를 만들었다. 백설기에 포슬포슬한 식감을 더하기 위하여 멥쌀가루에 물을 조금 부어 섞은 뒤 체에 거르며 떡을 만드는 전통 방식에 대해 배웠다. 이어서 하트 모양 틀에 멥쌀가루와 여러 재료를 넣고 토핑을 올려 장식했다. 떡을 찌는 동안 준비된 스티커를 사용하여 포장 상자를 꾸미는 시간을 가졌다. 이후 완성된 떡을 포장하며 떡 만들기 체험에 대한 소감을 나누는 것을 끝으로 활동을 마무리하였다. 학생들 중에는 떡을 처음 맛보는 학생도 있었으며 모두 이번 활동을 통해 쉽게 경험할 수 없는 한국 문화에 대해 배울 수 있어서 뜻깊었다는 소감을 전했다.
The members of the Global House visited the 'Danong Store' to participate in a Rice Cake Making Class. The class was conducted twice on March 30th (Thursday), with sessions starting at 10 AM and 2 PM.
The students were divided into groups of three and followed the instructor's guidance to make a rice cake called 'Baekseolgi'. They learned the traditional method of making rice cakes, which involves adding a small amount of water to glutinous rice flour and straining it to achieve a soft and chewy texture. Using heart-shaped molds, they filled the flour with various ingredients and decorated the rice cakes with toppings. While the rice cakes were steaming, they had the opportunity to decorate packaging boxes with stickers. Finally, they wrapped the completed rice cakes and shared their impressions of the rice cake making experience, concluding the activity.
Among the students, there were some who tried rice cakes for the first time. All the students expressed that this activity was meaningful as it allowed them to learn about Korean culture in a way that is not easily experienced elsewhere.
