한양대학교 Residential College 센터에서 2023년 3월 28일(화) 오후 6시부터 교내 체육관에서 제2회 RC 올림피아드가 진행되었다. 리더십 하우스 학생들과 글로벌 하우스 학생들이 모두 참여할 수 있는 프로그램으로 리더십 하우스 학생 약 50명, 글로벌 하우스 학생 약 30명이 참여하였다. 이번 학기엔 글로벌 하우스에서 글로벌 서포터즈를 선발하여 리더십 하우스 멘토와 함께 행사의 기획 단계부터 행사 운영을 도왔다.
RC 올림피아드는 크게 2가지 라운드로 구성되어있다. 첫 번째 라운드는 ‘리더십 vs 글로벌’로 ‘훌라후프 패스’, ‘수학 퀴즈’, ‘종이 넣기 게임’으로 이루어진 ‘미션 게임’과 주어진 시간 내에 높은 풍선탑을 만드는 ‘풍선탑 쌓기 게임’이 진행되었다. 두 게임의 합산 점수가 큰 하우스가 승리하는 라운드로 게임 진행 결과 글로벌 하우스의 승리로 마무리되었다.
두 번째 라운드는 리더십 하우스, 글로벌 하우스 학생들을 10-11명씩 랜덤으로 총 8팀을 구성하여 진행하였다. 게임은 총 4가지로 ‘모션 무궁화 꽃이 피었습니다’, ‘랜덤 줄다리기’, ‘고요속의 열창’, ‘의자 이어달리기’를 진행하였다. 모션 무궁화 꽃이 피었습니다 게임은 “무궁화 꽃이 피었습니다”라는 말을 외치는 동안 먼저 도착 지점에 들어온 참여자가 이기는 게임으로 일반적인 무궁화 꽃이 피었습니다 게임과 달리, 화면에 표시된 동작을 그대로 따라한 채로 멈춰야하는 규칙이 있다. 넷플릭스 시리즈 ‘오징어 게임’의 세계적인 흥행으로 글로벌 하우스 학생들도 이미 들어본 적이 있는 게임이라 모두 재미있게 참여하였다.
다음 게임은 ‘랜덤 줄다리기’로 일반 줄다리기와 달리 3개의 줄을 사용하며 상대팀의 누가 어느 줄을 잡고 있을지 모르는 상황에서 팀끼리 회의 후 팀원을 줄에 각각 배치하여 진행되는 게임이라 긴장감도 있고 재미가 있어 모두 흥미로워 했다. 이후 ‘고요속의 열창’을 진행하였다. 팀원이 돌아가며 앞으로 나와 헤드셋을 끼고 흘러나오는 노래를 따라 부르면 나머지 팀원들이 노래의 제목을 맞추는 게임으로 예능에서 많이 볼 수 있었던 게임이라 외국인 유학생들이 특히 재미있어 했다. 마지막으로 "‘의자 이어달리기‘를 준비하였으나 시간 관계상 생략하고 마무리하였다.
모든 게임이 끝난 후 점수를 종합적으로 산정하여 1등 팀을 가렸다. 우승팀 시상이 끝난 후 랜덤 추첨을 진행하여 상품을 전달하였다. 이번 RC 올림피아드를 통해 리더십 하우스와 글로벌 하우스 학생들이 함께 팀을 이루고 여러 게임에 참여함으로써 쉽게 친해질 수 있는 자리가 되었고 학기 초 친밀감 형성에 도움이 되었다.
At the Hanyang University ERICA Residential College Center, the 2nd RC Olympiad took place in the gymnasium on March 28th, 2022, starting at 6 PM. The program was open to both Korean students from the Leadership House and international students from the Global House, with approximately 50 students from the Leadership House and 30 students from the Global House participating. This semester, the Global House recruited Global Supporters who worked together with Leadership House mentors to assist in planning and organizing events from the initial stages to the execution.
The RC Olympics consisted of two main rounds. The first round, titled 'Leadership vs. Global,' included games such as 'Hula Hoop Pass,' 'Math Quiz,' and 'Paper Tossing Game' as part of the 'Mission Game.' Additionally, there was a 'Balloon Tower Game' where participants had to build the tallest balloon tower within a given time. The round concluded with the combined scores from both games, resulting in a victory for the Global House.
The second round involved randomly forming a total of 8 teams, with each team consisting of 10-11 students from the Leadership House and the Global House. The games included 'Motion Red Light, Green Light,' 'Random Tug-of-War,' 'Singing in the Silence,' and 'Chair Relay Race.' In the 'Motion Red Light, Green Light' game, the participants had to reach the designated endpoint while following the displayed motions exactly and freezing in the final pose when the game host shouted "Red Light, Green Light." Everyone, including the Global House students who were familiar with the game due to the global success of the Netflix series "Squid Game," enjoyed this game.
Next was the 'Random Tug-of-War,' which used three ropes instead of the traditional single rope. Teams had to discuss and strategically assign their members to each rope without knowing which rope the opposing team would hold onto, adding suspense and fun to the game. This was followed by the "Singing in the Silence" game, where team members took turns wearing headsets, singing along to a playing song, while the rest of the team guessed the song title. This game is often seen in Korean entertainment shows and was particularly enjoyable for international students. Finally, the game 'Chair Relay Race' was planned but omitted due to time constraints, and the event concluded.
After all the games were completed, the scores were tallied, and the team with the highest overall score was determined as the winner. Following the award ceremony for the winning team, a random draw was held to distribute prizes. Through this RC Olympics, students from the Leadership House and Global House had the opportunity to form teams and participate in various games together, fostering closer relationships and helping them bond at the beginning of the semester.
